Student Summer Placement Gives Undergraduates a Chance to Shine With Leading North East Companies

Some of the North East’s leading companies are offering an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to work with them next summer.

The 12-week paid summer placement programme will allow the students to work with Northumbrian Water, Esh MWH, Turner & Townsend, Amec Foster Wheeler, Interserve and MMB, rotating their time among the businesses.

Successful applicants will be paid a living wage while receiving invaluable skills and experience on real life construction projects.

Richard Woodhouse, Asset Investment Project Manager at Northumbrian Water, said: “We’re partnering with some great companies on this exciting opportunity for undergraduate students with an interest in engineering or the built environment.

“We ran the programme for the first time in 2017 and seven young people spent their summer gaining the type of experience that will put them in a fantastic position for the future. We’re really excited at the prospect of giving more students a similar opportunity in 2018.”

The programme has the support of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Association of Project Managers.

Applicants should send a CV and covering letter, which can be accompanied by a supporting Vlog if they choose, to NWG.academy@nwl.co.uk by noon on Monday, December 4, 2017.

Candidates must be available to work in the 12 week period from Monday, June 11, to Friday, August 31, 2018.
