Welcome to the South West Area of the Institute of Water!
South West Area
In the South West our mission statement is to be ‘Friendly, Supportive, Inclusive, Professional and Fun’. The committee works hard to implement our plans for the year in line with this mission statement, organising events about once a month.
Our current area President, Mark Worsfold is particularly passionate about this, and we work hard in the South West area to provide an environment that allows us to support the water industry train, develop, respect, encourage and retain our younger people in the industry.
Our events programme, supporting people at all stages of their careers with CPD and providing excellent network opportunities, is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the area sponsors, without whom we would not be able to offer such a variety of events that are often free to attend.

The SW Area Innovation Awards are back!
Have you been involved in innovation over the last year which deserves recognition? If so, we want to hear from you! If you are an individual, a team, or an organisation working within the South West Area of the Institute of Water and have an innovation you want to share then let us know about it!
Pride in the South West Award 2023
We are now looking for our 2023 applicants who are passionate about water and have made a positive impact in their community within the South West.
The “Pride in the South West Award” was launched in April 2022 in memory of Dr. Stephen Bird. Stephen was South West Water’s Managing Director, he was born and lived in Plymouth and worked at South West Water since 1992.
We are opening this competition until 18th August 2023 whereby our panel of judges will select a winner from the entries.
