Welcome to the South West Area of the Institute of Water!
South West Area
We are one of eight Institute of Water area committees. We are all volunteers who work in the water sector.
We use our professional experience to develop events and activities to support IWater members in South West Area; helping them to do their day jobs, advocate for the sector and improve the environment and lives of their communities.
Anyone who works in the sector is welcome to join. Any of our committee members would be happy to talk to you about the benefits of getting involved with IWater.

Our events programme, supporting people at all stages of their careers with CPD and providing excellent network opportunities, is made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the area sponsors, without whom we would not be able to offer such a variety of events that are often free to attend.
We always welcome comments, feedback, and ideas from our membership to your local / company representatives, or to our central email address, so please get in touch.
Pride in the South West Award
The “Pride in the South West Award” was launched in April 2022 in memory of Dr. Stephen Bird.
Each year, we look for applicants who are passionate about water and have made a positive impact in their community within the South West. We run this competition annually and our panel of judges selects a winner from the entries.
The Award recipient for 2024 is Peter Henley from WRc, pictured to the left.
