Professional Standards Committee
The Professional Standards Committee’s purpose is to ensure that the Institute of Water offers learning, development and professional qualifications for a broad spectrum of people employed in the water sector and monitors the competence of professionally qualified members.

About the Committee
The Professional Standards Committee is empowered to make decisions on all matters relating to membership and on all matters it deems necessary in pursuit of the Purpose and Duties/Responsibilities of the Committee.
The Chair of the Professional Standards Committee reports regularly and routinely to the Board of Directors and also reports to IWater members at the Annual General Meeting.


Committee Membership
The Committee consists of the Vice President Engineering, Vice President Environment, Vice President Science, and up to eight other members, including registrants from the Engineering Council, Society for the Environment, and Science Council, along with representatives from the Area Forum and additional members.
The Vice Presidents, appointed by the Board for a three-year term, chair meetings in rotation, while other members are selected to balance expertise, including academic, CPD, and Young Professionals’ Network representatives.
Non-voting ex-officio members, such as the Chief Executive and Professional Standards Manager, and co-opted members may be included for specific projects, with all appointments lasting up to three years, renewable for a maximum of nine years.
