Every Drop Counts achieves 2.8K home visits

More than two thousand eight hundred water saving home visits have taken place in Witham and the surrounding area during Essex & Suffolk Water’s latest campaign.

Across the summer months, customers were encouraged to fit devices that would reduce their water usage and lower their utility bills.

It is estimated that approximately 83,000 litres of water have been saved every day by the actions of these customers and each home will have saved around £24 off of their water and seage bill.

Tim Wagstaff, project manager for Essex & Suffolk Water said: “We’ve been really delighted by the passion and resolve customers in Witham have shown by signing-up for a free water saving home visit.

“Every Drop Counts continues to help cut our customers’ bills and has now visited over 20,000 homes across Essex and Suffolk,” he said.

Approved qualified plumbers call at homes by appointment and carry out a water efficiency survey of the property.

They have been fitting a range of water saving devices, including products such as aerated shower heads and dual flush devices for toilets, free-of-charge to customers’ homes.

“Essex & Suffolk Water has found home visits and the fitting of devices to our customers’ taps, toilets and showers to be one of the most effective ways to help customers save this finite resource and our award-winning scheme continues to help customers in Witham reduce their bills,” said Tim.

The Mayor of Witham Councillor, JoAnn Williams officially launched the Every Drop Counts initiative by unveiling a special work of art on the high street in Witham in June 2017.

The Every Drop Counts campaign won a Water Industry Achievement Award in May 2017 for being an innovative water efficiency programme.

The project will be coming to another part of Essex & Suffolk Water’s supply area next year and customers will have another opportunity to save water.
