The Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) has been re-branded, as part of a series of measures through which Energy & Utility Skills, who launched and operates EUSR, is adding value to the energy and utilities sector workforce.

The rebrand includes a redeveloped website, which has been optimised for mobile and tablet users, is easier to navigate and more user-friendly. There will also be updates to the EUSR ID cards, which are issued to individuals on the register, later this month.
EUSR ID cards issued from 22 October 2018, will have a new logo, a new colour scheme (blue replacing the green) and a cleaner design. Current EUSR ID cards with the previous green branding will still be valid and will be replaced when they are due to be renewed, so there is no need for cardholders to replace their cards before they expire.
EUSR is the online register that contains the training and skills records for individuals working in the gas, power, waste management and water industries.
EUSR registration follows the successful completion of an eligible scheme. Individuals will be issued with a unique EUSR ID number as well as a photo ID card displaying a record of their training or skills. EUSR is available online, 24/7, to verify an individual’s training and skills record for eligible schemes and programmes. Our schemes include Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness (SHEA) training programmes and the National Water Hygiene scheme as well as other schemes designed for the water, waste management, gas and power industries.
Safety, Health & Environmental Awareness (SHEA)
SHEA programmes are available across a range of industries and each programme consists of contextualised core learning plus industry-specific content, with assessment for each module. They cover the essentials of safety, health and environmental awareness for those working across the energy and utilities sector.
The entire SHEA portfolio has been redeveloped in 2018 to reflect the latest in training delivery methods and changing regulatory requirements. Registrations are valid for between three and five years, depending on the industry. Completion of a SHEA scheme also allows access to CSCS-controlled sites for utilities work.
National Water Hygiene
Successful completion of the National Water Hygiene scheme also results in an EUSR registration and an accompanying National Water Hygiene ID card, sometimes called a ‘Blue Card’. The card provides access to many restricted operations and sites, and is vital to maintaining the quality of the UK’s drinking water.
Launched over a decade ago by Energy & Utility Skills in collaboration with the UK water industry and key public health bodies, National Water Hygiene supports the ability to operate to the highest hygiene and safety practices on the water network.
Water companies across the UK have mandated National Water Hygiene for individuals who need to enter clean water sites or carry out tasks on the clean water network, whether in direct contact with water or not.
