Who can become an Engineering Technician?
EngTech registration is open to those who can demonstrate the required professional competencies and commitment.
Applicants typically have completed an Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship or a similar work-based learning programme approved by their engineering institution, leading directly to Engineering Technician registration.
Alternatively, with relevant work experience, applicants may hold a qualification approved by a licensed engineering institution in engineering or construction, at Level 3 (or above) in the UK Qualifications Framework, or an equivalent qualification. How to become an EngTech
Before starting your application, read the UK Spec authored by the Engineering Council that explains the competence standards required of an Engineering Technician.
Once you are ready to begin your application, download the EngTech Application Form and the Applicant’s Short Guide and follow the process outlined.
All candidates for registration as an Engineering Technician must be members of a professional body such as IWater. As part of your application, you will be asked to produce a copy of your CPD record.
