Matt Bower – Chair
Operations Team Leader, Drinking Water Quality Regulator for Scotland
After graduating in Geophysical Sciences and spending a year in the oil industry, Matt gained a Master’s degree in the Water Environment and worked for 9 years at Anglian Water in a number of scientific roles ranging from research and development in novel water treatment processes to operational process science and regulatory liaison.
Since 2004 he has been employed by the Scottish Government, working for the DWQR where he is now Operations Team Leader, responsible for all operational issues on public and private water supplies, including incident investigation, enforcement and inspection of Scottish Water’s treatment works, distribution activities and laboratories. He is a Chartered Scientist and Fellow of the Institute of Water, sitting on the Science Panel and acts as national Chair on the Board of Directors.
Outside work, Matt is a Scout leader of 14 years’ standing and has a keen interest in outdoor pursuits and gardening.
