The UK is a base for research & development with world-leading institutions, water companies, policy and regulation.
IWA (International Water Association) is a global organisation and in the UK we have lots to offer the wider water community.
There is a long-running committee in the UK – a sub-committee of the Institute of Water – which exists to serve the interests of IWA members based in this region. There is going to be a restructuring and a new opportunity for all members of the IWA in the UK to put themselves forward for a place on the committee. The role of the committee is summarised in the attached document (please click here to download).
There is much potential to use the IWA presence in the UK to help solve some of the key challenges to the water sector both here and further afield. It starts by having an engaged, motivated and diverse committee that wants to proactively address these challenges and enjoy working as part of a team to form new networks and events that bring the members together.
Applicants must be members of IWater and IWA at the point of applying and, if appointed, they must agree to remain members for the duration – normally three years.
Individuals should provide a maximum one-page biography to say what group they represent (water company, NGO, academia, supply chain etc), what they would bring to the Committee and what they would contribute to the five ‘Critical Objectives and Goals’ in the ‘Role of the Committee’ document and to the Institute of Water. Where relevant, they must confirm that they have the support from their employer to allow them to play a full and active role in support of IWA UK.
Applications should be emailed to lynn@instituteofwater.org.uk by 20th September.
In order to help answer any questions on the future of the committee, there will be 2 short webinars hosted by Ben Tam, a current committee member: details below.
